Whitnall Basketball Teams Continue to Roll

The boys and girls squads won Tuesday to improve to a combined 11-2.

Elena Busalacchi and Ashley Markowiak combined for 34 points as the rolled to a 61-43 home win over Shorewood on Tuesday.

Busalacchi led all players with 18 points, while Markowiak, the team's leading scorer at 14.7 points per game, had 16. The two players also pulled down six rebounds each.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Woodland Conference.

"We were able to execute our half-court offense and also get some transition baskets from our defense," Whitnall coach Keith Larson said. "I was pleased that we reduced our turnovers and fouls from our previous game."

Meanwhile, at Shorewood, the Whitnall boys remained unbeaten (7-0 overall, 3-0 conference) with a 57-50 win.

Stephen Pelkofer scored 18 points for the Falcons, followed by Sam Mentkowski's 14 and Luke Mentkowski's 10.

Still looking for their first wins

Both teams continue to struggle. The Hustlin' Hawks boys came up just short in a 55-54 home loss to South Milwaukee to dip 0-5, 0-4, despite 23 points from Nick Jablonski, and the girls fell to 0-5, 0-4 with a 56-30 loss at South Milwaukee on Tuesday.
