Whitnall Football Coach Rob Leboeuf Resigns

He spent eight years as head coach of the Falcons.

Rob Leboeuf has resigned as head football coach at after eight seasons.

Whitnall Superintendent Lowell Holtz emailed Leboeuf's statement, which was read to the athletes on the football team after school Tuesday, to Patch.

“In order to focus on my teaching here at Whitnall, I will no longer be serving as the head football coach. I will be assisting (Athletic Director) and the new coach, once he is selected, in the transition. The April football meeting will still occur, and all prospective players will continue to receive communications about sign-ups, camps, and workouts at that time. I need you to continue to work hard in the off-season and keep this program strong. If you have any questions or are interested in participating in the selection of a new coach, please see Mr. Elertson.”

When reached by phone Tuesday night, Leboeuf, a physical education teacher at the high school, declined further comment. Elertson did not immediately return a call from Patch Tuesday afternoon.

By Tuesday afternoon, the job had already been posted on the district website.

“The primary focus of our program, the kids, will not be negatively impacted,” Holtz said in his email.

The , including 3-5 in the Woodland Conference, ending a three-year run of WIAA playoff appearances. During Leboeuf's eight-year tenure as head coach, Whitnall was 26-49 overall and 22-34 in the Woodland.

Leboeuf was the NOW Newspapers coach of the year in 2008.
