Whitnall Students to Contribute to Greenfield Patch

For the second straight semester, Greenfield Patch and Whitnall High School have teamed up to provide a unique look at the what’s going on in the school district.

About a dozen students in Taylor Townsend’s Broadcast Journalism class will be contributing stories to Patch through the Local Voices blogging tool.

Students will write about a variety of topics, many of them centered on the very issues or stories that impact their lives.

To kick off this semester’s partnership, students submitted blogs about powderpuff football and other homecoming activities, a preview of Whitnall football team’s upcoming game with Cudahy, and a piece on the return of the NFL’s real referees.

Sometimes the students’ blogs will be featured on the home page. The blog posts can also be found on this specially designed “Whitnall High School Patch Project” page, and among the other community Local Voices pieces.

In exchange for their contributions, students will receive feedback and suggestions on their stories, in addition to collecting published writing samples for college or job applications.

Townsend will review all stories before they are submitted to Patch, and blogs are not published until they are approved by this site’s editor.
