Alan Kulwicki Exhibit to Open April 5

The Milwaukee County Historical Society will be presenting Alan Kulwicki: A Champion's Story, a tribute to Greenfield's own late famous race car driver.

Nearly eight months after one tribute to Greenfield’s own Alan Kulwicki sadly went away, another will debut.

The Milwaukee County Historical Society’s newest exhibit, Alan Kulwicki: A Champion's Story, is slated to open April 5.

The exhibit will take people on a journey through Kulwicki’s life and legacy, from his humble beginnings in Greenfield, to winning the 1992 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship.

The exhibit will be more than just photos and videos of Kulwicki’s racing career. As a tribute to his inventiveness and innovation – he was an engineering graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee – the exhibit will introduce augmented reality.

Through the use of camera-enabled mobile devices and tablets, augmented reality will superimpose virtual elements such as video, animation, graphics and audio on a real life environment in real time. You can see yourself standing behind the hood of Kulwicki's car and drive a model around a virtual racetrack.

The exhibit will feature artifacts representing the history of Wisconsin motorsports, as well as others from Alan Kulwicki's life and career, including a near-life-sized replica of his famous championship racing car.
