Booster Club Donation Helps Athletic Programs Cross Items Off Wish List

High school coaches received more than $21,000 in donations for purchases such as jerseys and other equipment.

Jerseys, volleyballs, an iPad and batting helmets were just a few of the dozens of items the Greenfield High School athletic programs will be able to purchase through the efforts of the school’s athletic booster club.

On Monday, the Greenfield School Board accepted the booster club’s donation of more than $19,500 to purchase many items on high school coaches’ wish lists. Every athletic program benefited from the donation, including the girls soccer program, which received $2,780 for new home and away uniforms and the wrestling team, which got $2,000 for various items.

The school’s athletic training program received the second-largest chunk, $2,520 for equipment.

“A lot of hard work went into raising that money,” School Board member Pam Sierzchulski said.

Athletic director and assistant principal Scott Otto said the total available to purchase wish-list items was actually $21,558 because money was left over from last year.

“Our booster club at Greenfield High School does a real nice job,” Otto said. “They work very hard in the concession stand and with their fundraisers, and with athletic budgets trimmed down and cut, it’s a vital lifeline we have to have. We wouldn’t be able to put the kids out there looking their best or using the latest technology without their efforts.”

Otto said the booster club is always looking for more community involvement. Call president Scott Schwab at 414-630-7030 or Otto at 414-855-2405 for more details.

In addition to the Booster Club’s donation, the School Board also approved a $10,000 donation from the Elm Dale Elementary School PTO to purchase 10 laptops and a charging cart for that school’s students and teachers.

“A lot of effort goes into raising $10,000 at a school,” Board member Cathy Walsh said.

Elm Dale also received a $500 donation for its year-end fifth-grade celebration.
