The Whitnall boys basketball team moved into first place with a win Tuesday.

Stephen Pelkofer’s big night helped lift the Whitnall boys basketball team into first place.

Pelkofer scored a game-high 17 points as the Falcons earned a 51-45 road win at Pewaukee on Tuesday.

The Falcons, who also got 11 points from Geoff Wisialowski, outscored the Pirates (8-3, 6-3) by nine points in the middle two quarters.

With the win, coupled with New Berlin Eisenhower’s loss to South Milwaukee, the Falcons snatched sole possession of first place in the Woodland Conference Black Division.

Whitnall is 7-1 in league play (8-4 overall), one game ahead of both Eisenhower and South Milwaukee with nine league games remaining.

Greenfield boys basketball

A huge fourth quarter kept the Hustlin’ Hawks from becoming the Cudahy Packers’ first victims of the season.

Greenfield outscored its hosts, 31-16, in the final period to pull out a 69-58 win.

Ricky Santiago scored a game-high 22 points and Reggie Blakely added 11 as the Hawks (3-10, 2-6) won for the second time in four games.

Derron LeFlore had 13 points to lead four Packers in double digits, but it was not enough as Cudahy (0-10, 0-9) lost its 16th consecutive game dating back to last season.

Whitnall girls basketball

The Falcons were unable to knock off undefeated Pewaukee and lost, 56-34, at home Tuesday.

The Pirates (11-0, 9-0) jumped out to a 17-9 first-quarter lead and limited Whitnall to single-digit points in each of the first three quarters.

Pewaukee’s Amanda Baalke scored a game-high 13 points. Elena Busalacchi had a team-high eight for Whitnall (5-6, 3-5).

Greenfield girls basketball

Big games by Kristina Vidakovich (12 points) and Jill Dworschack (eight) were not enough for the Hawks, who lost, 62-42, at Cudahy.

If was the fourth straight loss for the Hawks, who dipped to 3-7 overall, 1-7 conference.

Cudahy’s Taylor Gradinjan scored a game-high 19 points.
