Falcons, Hawks Struggle Mightily in Second Week of Football Season

The Falcons host the Hawks at 7 p.m. Friday in the first-ever game at Falcon Field, as both teams try to put a rough Week 2 in the past.

The second week of the varsity football season was not kind to either local team Friday.

The Whitnall Falcons (1-1) fell behind early to the upstart Wauwatosa West Trojans (2-0) and never recovered in a 46-15 road loss.

The hosts scored the first 20 points of the game and rushed for 466 yards, including 178 by Greg Lewis.

Whitnall quarterback Zach Sutton passed for 326 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown pass to Sam Mentkowski in the fourth quarter.

Things did not go much better for the Greenfield Hustlin’ Hawks (0-2), who scored their first three points of the season on a fourth-quarter field goal, but not before the Greendale Panthers (2-0) scored the first six touchdowns of the game en route to a 42-3 victory.
