On the BadgerBlitz.com website, a rivals.com UW football site, Stave was called the team's "quarterback on the rise" by writer Tom Lea, who went on to say Stave "displayed that he has a natural knack for productivity at the quarterback position" in a profile of the position.

On UWBadgers.com, the university's official athletics website, Stave is listed on the football team's roster with uniform No. 2.
