Former Whitnall Star Quarterback Now Fourth on Badgers Depth Chart

The addition of North Carolina State's Russell Wilson pushes Joel Stave down a notch.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, North Carolina State quarterback Russell Wilson, who passed and threw for 93 touchdowns, has decided to play football for the Wisconsin Badgers this fall.

Wilson's decision means former Whitnall star Joel Stave, who graduated from Whitnall in December so he could begin taking classes in Madison, will likely be fourth on the depth chart. The true freshman finished the spring season behind redshirt sophomore Jon Budmayr and redshirt freshman Joe Brennan.

In a story by the Associated Press that appeared on Sports Illustrated's website this afternoon regarding Wilson's decision, Stave was said to have appeared to be the sharpest of the young quarterbacks during the spring season but implied he was third on the chart because of his age.

Stave played just two years on the varsity at Whitnall but turned in some of the most prolific quarterbacking numbers in school history.
