Hawks, Falcons Visit South Shore Teams on Friday

Maybe the two local football teams should consider sharing a bus Friday.

When the Greenfield Hustlin’ Hawks and Whitnall Falcons hit the gridiron this week, they’ll be doing so just a mile down the road from each other.

Then again, after last Friday night, maybe that’s not a great idea.

The Hawks (1-2, 1-0) take on the Cudahy Packers (1-2, 0-1) at 7 p.m.

The Packers are coming off a 27-0 loss to boarder rival South Milwaukee, considered among the teams to be favorites to win the Woodland Conference East.

Cudahy has struggled to manage any offensive consistency with 13 players already logging at least one varsity rushing attempt through three games, and just one, Tyler Fricke cracking 100 total yards (114).

A little to the north, Whitnall (0-3, -0-1) looks for its first win of the season when it visits St. Francis (1-2, 0-1), which has suffered back-to-back blowout losses, including a 42-7 drubbing at home to Brown Deer, another league favorite, on Friday.

The Mariners have taken their offense to the air as Jake Wiedower has already passed 59 times in three games. He has 420 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions.

His top target is Adam Korpela, who has 16 catches for 244 yards and one score.
