Santiago Reaches 1,000 Points, But Hawks Fall to Falcons

The Whitnall boys basketball team pulled out a 78-74 overtime win at Greenfield High School in the Woodland Conference finale Tuesday.

Ricky Santiago made school history Tuesday, but it was Danny Weymier and the Whitnall Falcons that had the last laugh.

Weymier scored a game-high 34 points as the Falcons knocked off the host Hustlin' Hawks, 78-74, in overtime at Greenfield High School on Tuesday.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 14-7 overall in Steve Kujawa's first season as head coach, and 12-6 in the Woodland Conference East, good for second place behind Brown Deer (16-1).

Greenfield finished the regular season 10-12 overall after winning just five games in coach Jack Miller's first season. The Hawks were 9-9 in conference, good for fourth.

Eighth-seeded Greenfield kicks off the WIAA Division 1 postseason when it hosts ninth-seeded Racine Park (4-16) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19.

In Division 2 action, fifth-seeded Whitnall visits fourth-seeded Bay View (13-8) at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
