Swim Co-Op Wins Sectional With Ease

Greenfield/Greendale swim team sending 11 entries to next weekend's state meet.

The Greenfield/Greendale co-op swim team will have 11 entries at next weekend’s WIAA State Swim Meet thanks to a dominating effort at the Greenfield Sectional on Saturday.

The co-op won five events en route to 357 points at the title in the 11-team meet, well ahead of second-place Racine Case.

Seniors led the way.

Jungers won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.81, the second-fastest sectional time statewide behind only Eau Claire Memorial/North sophomore Alex DeLakis’s 1:55.35.

Lennertz won the 50 free in 21.60 and the 100 butterfly in 51.03, just ahead of second-place Jungers’s 52.38.

Those two teamed with freshman Adam Fleischhacker and junior Shaun Fleischhacker to win the 200 free relay in 1:29.60.

Lennertz added another win when he teamed with freshman Shaun Lucchesi, sophomore Andrew Staszak and junior Zach Hogan for first in the 400 free relay in 3:22.94.

Jungers also teamed with Ross Rybakowicz, Tom Miller and Shaun Fleischhacker for second in the 200 medley relay in 1:42.06.

Rybakowicz, a freshman, was third in both the 200 IM (2:03.98) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.14), both good enough for the state field.

In the 500 free, Staszak swam second in 5:01.83 and Lucchesi third in 5:04.87, both state-qualifying times.

Staszak also swam second in the 200 freestyle in 1:50.36, but his time did not qualify for state.

Whitnall swimming

Despite finishing fourth of 11 teams with a number of top-five efforts, the Whitnall swimming and diving team’s season came to an end without a state qualifier at the Cudahy Sectional on Saturday.
