Whitnall Lands First State Tennis Berth Since 2008

Senior Andrew Dundas will represent the Falcons at next week's state meet.

Senior Alex Dundas snapped Whitnall’s three-year state tennis drought by finishing fourth at the Greendale Sectional on Thursday.

Dundas, a senior, improved to 12-8 at first singles. He finished behind Brookfield Central’s Michael Treis (19-7), Brookfield East’s Ben Klein (13-9) and Wauwatosa East’s Nick Skanavis (17-7), but the top four finishers at first singles and doubles advanced to the WIAA Individual State Tennis Tournament at Nielsen Stadium in Madison June 2-4.

Dundas is the first Whitnall state representative since Apitarn Narattana won two of three state matches in 2008.

Just down the road, the Greenfield Hustlin’ Hawks were shut out at their own sectional Thursday, losing every match and failing to earn an automatic state bid.

Marquette dominated the meet, winning four flight championships en route to the sectional title. The Hilltopers finished with 50 combined subsectional and sectional points to earn a berth into the WIAA Team State Tennis Tournament to be held June 10-11 at Nielsen Stadium.

Greenfield had sectional qualifiers at second, third and fourth singles and first and second doubles. Among them were seniors Connor Lewandowski, Adal Chohan, Patrick Stemo, Austin Jacobsen, Jordan Tian and Zach Stelse.
