Whitnall Senior Settles for Sixth at State

After opening the tournament with two wins Thursday, Bourgeois loses three straight times, including twice Saturday.

Whitnall senior Kameron Bougeois had to settle for sixth place at the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament after losing twice Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison.

After opening the tournament with a pair of wins Thursday that sent him into the semifinals at 103 pounds, Bourgeois (46-4) lost his lone match Friday and then twice Saturday, including a 7-0 defeat to Hartford Union sophomore Bobby Nachreiner.

Nachreiner defeated Bourgeois, 17-1, in a state opening-round match last winter.

“KB wrestled hard,” Whitnall co-head coach John Quinlan said through the “whitwrestle” Twitter feed. “Our styles just didn’t match up real well with Bobby.

“Nachreiner showed why he has been ranked number one all year.”

In the fifth-place match against Waukesha South sophomore Bill Prochniewski (42-4), Bourgeois was edged, 7-6.

Bourgeois was the first Whitnall wrestler to place in the top six since 2005.
