Updated Sept. 3

Lauren Lent, who began her sophomore year at Whitnall High School on Tuesday, was the runner-up in the Sub-Junior World Powerlifting Championships in Killeen, Texas this week.

According to the Whitnall School District's Facebook page, Lent was first in the squat, second in the deadlift and bronze in the bench press in her 57-kilogram weight class. She won the gold in the squat with an effort of 358 pounds.

Her total weight of 870 pounds was an improvement from her efforts at the women's national meet, according to coach RG Luckow.

"She represented the USA and Whitnall community well," Luckow said.
