Whitnall's Offense Clicking on All Cylinders in Win

Passing, rushing game both featured in lopsided win over St. Francis.

If Friday's game at St. Francis is any indication, the have as dangerous an offense as any in the Woodland Conference.

The Falcons scored seven touchdowns, including two of more than 75 yards, in a 49-27 victory over the host Mariners, bumping their record to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Quarterback Luke Mentkowski passed for a career-high 370 yards on 13-of-19 passing with two touchdowns, a 76-yard strike to Stephen Pelkofer minutes into the first quarter and a 77-yard connection with Danny Weymeir in the third quarter.

When Mentkowski wasn't airing it out, senior running back Travis Karweik was churning out loads of yards on the ground. Karweik rushed for a career-high 223 yards on 28 carries with a pair of touchdowns in each half.

The Falcons host Wauwatosa West (1-2, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, their first home game of the season.
