Making a Difference is Easier Than You Think

We found an opportunity to be of service to a young Burmese lady while shopping at the new Viet Hoa Food Market in Greenfield.

My wife and I are embarking on yet another new adventure. We are teaching Burmese people phonics.

A couple of months ago, we had Xenn Seah from China come and hang out with us over the weekend and speak at our church. On the way to the airport, I wanted to show him how "ethnically diverse" Greenfield is becoming, so we stopped by and walked through the , you know, that new store over on 27th Street.

I bought some really great green tea, better deal and better taste. So, while checking out, Xenn starts talking to one of the cashiers. The long and short of it is, ever since my wife and I have been really enjoying getting to know these beautiful people and helping them enjoy their quest at the American dream. Talk about refreshing!

What really is surprising is that even just knowing how to speak English can be such a great opportunity to help someone. I'm just saying, when we as humans open our hearts and eyes, it is amazing how easy it is to make a difference ... and fun. Perhaps we make helping or being a "neighbor" (as Jesus put it) way too complicated, or worse yet, we don't believe that we can make an impact in someones life.

Again, I just have to say, you have way more to offer than you think you do. It really is amazing how that spending time with our creator can convince you of the greatness for which He has created you. Spending time with God can really bring you believing that you have worth or value. Luke 10:29 (kjv) But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor? Matthew 9:37 (niv) Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

You'll find that doing the "will of God" is exceedingly fulfilling and if you're wondering, helping humans is just about as much in His will as you'll ever be.
