Marriage is Easy. It's Divorce That's The Hard One

Divorce is hard and marriage is easy, according to Elim Tabernacle Pastor Steve Rogers.

Friday morning I was in reading the book of Revelation (the last of a series of great books) and thinking about a conversation while getting my haircut at  on Tuesday afternoon.

My heart went out to the young lady cutting my hair.  She was doing a very good job and making small talk, asked me about my family. I told her about my 19-year-old, good-looking son, our beautiful, 22-year-old UWM grad daughter, the 5-year-old Golden Retriever we have.

Then I went on to tell her about my wonderful wife of almost 25 years. I was heartsick in the sadness expressed as she hesitantly breathed out the words, "wow, 25 years, marriage is hard." I wanted so bad to tell her, "no, no, marriage is easy; it's divorce that's hard."

I was hangin out with a bunch of guys the other day at my favorite Greenfield gathering place (if I'm rating, , while I love it, it'd have to be No. 2). We were talking about how great marriage was. I was listening to a whole bunch of guys telling how much they loved their wives. The wives were nowhere around and these guys were not sitting around ripping on the woman in their life, they were bragging about her.

Tell me, how'd you think criticizing your life partner was going to work out? Or better yet, how intelligent is that supposed to make you look? You know.

My breakfast was great - so I ate the whole thing. For a great breakfast, see George at Genesis (not a bad golfer either). For a great read, start in Genesis, but you have to go all the way to get from there to Revelation. Don't judge a book by its excerpts; sure, marriage can be tough, but it can be wonderful as well sure some days can get pretty dark. But hang on, for crying out loud, we live in a place of "green fields." We can succeed right where we are. Don't go looking for greener pastures somewhere else. You have everything you need for success right here, right in Greenfield.
