Greenfield Firefighters to Give Neuromuscular Disease the Boot

The fire fighters will remove their boots to collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Fill-the-Boot program Wednesday through Friday, July 11-13.

In keeping with the annual tradition, the Greenfield Fire Department Local 1963 will go beyond the call of duty this week when they join in the battle against neuromuscular disease.

The fire fighters will remove their boots to collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Fill-the-Boot program Wednesday through Friday, July 11-13. The fire fighters will stand at the intersection of 76th Street and Layton Avenue, and will take donations from motorists and pedestrians from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The fire fighters , and hope to raise $40,000 this year. Greenfield Patch both and in last summer's fundraiser.

According to fire fighter Andy Greil, Greenfield fire fighters have raised collected $180,000 over the past 14 years.

All donations will benefit local MDA clients and services like sending children and young adults to MDA Summer Camp in Kenosha County, funding clinic visits at Froedtert and Children’s Hospital clinics, and financing wheelchair repairs.

MDA’s Fill-the-Boot program is supported by fire departments across North America. Last year, Wisconsin fire fighters raised over $600,000 for MDA.
