Greenfield Fourth of July Celebration Guide

There will be plenty to see and do on Thursday, July 4, with events slated all afternoon and evening at Konkel Park.

Planning for one of Greenfield’s biggest celebrations of the year – the Fourth of July – is winding down as the annual festivities draw closer.

The daylong event will be held in its customary location at Konkel Park on Thursday, July 4.

Festival grounds open at 11 a.m. Vendors will start selling their goods at that time.

Honorary grand marshals Joel and Rachel Stave will lead the parade at 12:15 p.m. Joel is a former Whitnall High School football standout and now the University of Wisconsin Badgers quarterback. Rachel, who recently graduated from Whitnall, is a multi-time state diving champion.

The parade route will be as it has been for years: Participants will assemble at 11 a.m. on South 68th Street north of West Layton Avenue. The parade commences there at noon, proceeding east on West Layton Avenue to Konkel Park, 5151 W. Layton Ave., entering the parking lot via the east entrance.

Following the parade is an ice cream giveaway, followed by a slew of activities and events:

  • 1 p.m.: a performance by Denai’s Dancers
  • 1:30 p.m.: flag ceremony, followed by Mayor Michael Neitzke’s remarks; performance by the UW marching band, featuring Bucky Badger
  • 2 p.m.: Greenfield Fire vs. Milwaukee fire softball game; Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader competition
  • 3 p.m.: Elvis impersonator contest; Division BMX exhibition
  • 4 p.m.: hot dog eating contest
  • 4:30 p.m.: pie eating contest
  • 5 p.m.: music provided by SKIBS Entertainment
  • 6:30 p.m.: the band Step-In-Out will hit the stage at at 6:30 p.m. and will play until 11 p.m., taking a break of course for the fireworks.

Fireworks are scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m.
