Mini-Golf Tourney, Fundraiser on Saturday

River Falls Recreation Center will be the site of an 18-hole miniature golf tournament hosted by Kapco and FM 106.1 to benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Fund.

Want to show off your mini-golf skills? Think they are good enough to win a trip to Mexico? Or maybe you just want to help a great cause?

The organizers of the Kapko Mini Open, a miniature golf tournament fundraiser for the Child Abuse Prevention Fund, are in need of both participants and volunteers for this weekend's event.

The 18-hole tournament hosted by FM 106.1's morning crew of Karen Dalessandro, Scott Dolphin and Tony "Radar" Hess is Saturday morning at , 5401 W. Layton Ave.

The cost is $25 per person and $100 per foursome. All proceeds go to the Child Abuse Prevention Fund.

"Kapko and FM106 have really been great to the CAP Fund over the years," said Jennifer Hammel, the Child Abuse Prevention Fund director. "FM106 has been our partner since the beginning and has worked really hard to help us combat the issues of child abuse."

The grand prize is a Funjet Vacations getaway for two to Riviera Maya. The individual from each round with the lowest score will win all-inclusive accommodations at the Barcelo Maya Beach & Caribe.

Other prizes include two four-day passes to Country Thunder and two tickets to see Blake Shelton at the Wisconsin State Fair.

"This is a fund event, but it's not your leisurely mini-golf outing because it is a tournament and there are some nice prizes that folks will be eligible for," Hammel said. "But it's a good way to do two things: spend some family time together and support a really great cause."

In addition, the event organizers need volunteers to work from 6:45 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are responsible for taking scorecards from golfers, and recording each golfers score. The golfer will then pass their scorecard to the next volunteer on the next hole.

Contact Markham if you are interest in volunteering.

FM106 has long been a partner with the CAP Fund and will once again be holding its two-day radio-a-thon called the CAP Fund Caravan for Kids Aug. 25-26.
