From public officials to Boy Scouts troops, a host of participants gathered along 60th Street on Saturday morning for an Arbor Day celebration and tree planting.

Following a ceremony, which included the re-naming of Greenfield as a Tree City USA and the presentation of a Tree City USA Growth Award for the 16th consecutive year, the crowd headed out to the median and planted trees from Layton Avenue to beyond the Interstate 894 overpass.

The event was sponsored by the Greenfield Beautification Committee.
