Whitnall Elementary School's Project Fair is March 4

For the seventh consecutive year, students in grades 1-5 at both Edgerton Elementary and Hales Corners Elementary are gearing up for the annual Project Fair, an opportunity for students to show off their educational interests outside of the classroom.

Much like a science fair, but better, students volunteer to create a project in any area that interests them, such as Social Studies, Visual Arts, Math, Language Arts and Science. The project includes a visual display of their project and a written log that explains the project’s process and details what they’ve learned.

The first of two Project Fairs will be at Edgerton Elementary, where that school’s students’ projects will be displayed for public viewing Tuesday, March 4, from 6-8 p.m. That day, the projects will be judged by Whitnall High School students. Ribbon-winners will revealed that evening. There will also be musical performances from Edgerton students during the public viewing.

As many as 400 people are expected to attend the fair, based on previous attendance figures.

Nearly 100 Edgerton students, or approximately one-third of the student body, have voluntarily signed up to participate in this year’s fair, including teacher Mary Beth Miller’s entire fourth grade class.

“This is probably the biggest group we’ve had at Edgerton since we started this,” said Colleen Roth, the District’s Gifted and Talented elementary teacher and the Project Fair organizer. “It’s a great opportunity for students to show something they are interested in, in a way they might not be able to do within a classroom setting.”
