Baby Autumn Finally Comes Home

Baby Autumn Receives New Heart, Second Chance

The 4-month-old daughter of Alan and Lindsay Markos of Greenfield underwent heart transplant surgery Sunday, three months after being placed on the transplant list.

It was 1:42 a.m. Sunday morning. After nearly four months of waiting, the pagers Alan and Lindsay Markos had been carrying with them religiously finally went off. A donor heart was available for Autumn, the Greenfield couple’s infant girl. “All of a sudden we heard a noise and we sprung up out of bed,” Alan said. “Alan kept saying, ‘Thank you God. Thank you God,’’ added Lindsay. By Sunday afternoon, the 4-month-old Autumn, who has spent her entire young life at Children’s Hospital, had a healthy heart thumping in her tiny chest, nearly three months after being placed on a heart transplant list. Cancer Patient, 4, Meets Justin Bieber

Updated, 5:05 p.m. Sunday: Hailey Roser, 4, has met Justin Bieber. Despite Children's Hospital being on lockdown because of the Brookfield mass shooting, she was allowed to leave the hospital and she met Bieber Sunday afternoon. "Dreams come true," tweeted her family from the account @HealingHailey. A Waukesha Patch Twitter follower told Patch that Hailey's ambulance arrived in Milwaukee for Bieber's concert. "I am here with my daughters and the ambo with Hailey got here about 15 min ago," tweeted @brianokeefemke. A social media campaign was launched last week to encourage Bieber to meet the 4-year-old girl, who is hospitalized in Wauwatosa. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson partnered up with Kohl’s and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to host a fun, interactive home safety event at Kohl’s – Southridge Mall on Friday.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson partnered up with Kohl’s and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to host a fun, interactive home safety event at Kohl’s – Southridge Mall on Friday. Kohl’s Cares: The Great Safety Adventure introduced local families to Rover, the Home Safety Hound, and his Safety Rangers as they explored a retrofitted semitrailer designed to represent a 1,200-square-foot home. This tour is dedicated to educating parents and children about the five leading safety risks found inside and outside the home. Kohl’s Cares is funding the effort through a $725,000 donation to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
