The ever-changing landscape of the Greenfield School District administration could become a bit clearer at a special School Board meeting Monday.
The ever-changing landscape of the Greenfield School District administration could become a bit clearer at a special School Board meeting Monday. Though an agenda has not yet been published on the district website as of 10 a.m. Friday, Board president Bruce Bailey said board members are expected to interview multiple search firms, one of which will help them find a permanent superintendent to replace Conrad Farner, who resigned in early January. Bailey would not say how many firms will be questioned, but said the meeting would begin at 5:45 p.m. and each firm would receive 30 minutes to state its case in closed session. Once the interviews are complete, the Board will convene to open session and will likely choose a firm, Bailey said. In…

The Greenfield School Board decided filling both positions on a temporary basis was the right move, for now.
After being rejected by one of their own, the Greenfield School Board will look outside the district to fill its superintendent vacancy, both on an interim and permanent basis. The board voted unanimously in favor of hiring a search firm to aide in finding a permanent superintendent to replace Conrad Farner, who resigned earlier this month to accept a position in Cedarburg. “There’s been much discussion amongst board members in regard to the need to go out and see what’s available as far as superintendent position,” board clerk Cathy Walsh said. “We’ve had a tumultuous year. The board itself amongst each other hasn’t always seen eye to eye. “But I think we have to be sure we involve all the stakeholders in the district: staff, students, …

Todd Bugnacki, the Director of Educational Services, thanked the board for considering him but said he decided to stay put in his current role.
Updated: 8:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 Despite being second-in-command before the departure of former Superintendent Conrad Farner, veteran administrator Todd Bugnacki declined an offer by the Greenfield School Board to replace his old boss on an interim basis. In a statement read at the beginning of Monday’s School Board meeting, Bugnacki, the Director of Educational Services, thanked the board for considering him but said he decided to stay put in his current role. “I’m grateful for the show of confidence, however, I must respectfully deny the position,” Bugnacki said. “I believe it is in the best interest of the district for me to remain in my current position and help facilitate the hard work of our teachers and administrators. “It’s a …

Kristin Kollath told the Greenfield School Board of intended resignation earlier this week, one week after former Superintendent Conrad Farner did the same.
As the Greenfield School Board decides how to replace former Superintendent Conrad Farner, it will simultaneously be searching for a new business director. Director of Business Services Kristin Kollath has informed the Greenfield School Board of her intention to resign effective Feb. 22. Kollath told Greenfield Patch she accepted a position in higher education. “My tenure at the School District of Greenfield has been highlighted by the good fortune of working with quality, hard-working and dedicated staff,” Kollath said. “I’ve grown substantially as a professional over the six and a half years with the district and I’m proud of what we have been able to accomplish during this time. “I thank the School Board for the opportunity to serve the…

Conrad Farner's resignation is effective at the end of the day Jan. 15, and no interim superintendent is in place.
One week after accepting Superintendent Conrad Farner's resignation and forging a pricey separation agreement with him, the Greenfield School Board is undecided on how to proceed with filling the vacancy. Farner’s resignation is effective at the end of the day Tuesday. For hours in closed session Monday evening, board members debated the pros and cons of naming an interim superintendent but came away with no clear-cut solution. A statement issued by the School Board said, “The School District of Greenfield Board of Education is in the process of filling the Superintendent position and will be making a final decision that is in best interest of the Greenfield community in the coming week. “We are grateful to have such a committed team of …

Some believe the payments as agreed upon are necessary for the district and Conrad Farner to head in their respective directions. Others wish the money could be used on something else.
The Greenfield School Board agreeing to pay Greenfield Superintendent Conrad Farner $80,000 in a tax-sheltered annuity as agreed upon through a separation agreement Monday has received mixed reviews. There are those who believe the money should have remained in the district. Said Greenfield Patch user “Robert”: "Isn't $80,000 about what a teacher makes with benefits? So we paid someone the value of a teaching position so they would go away and take a job that they were already going to take?" Patch user “Jen” said: “He should not have received the tax annuity. Greenfield is tight on money as it is.” Even Greenfield School Board president Bruce Bailey, the only board member to vote against the agreement, told Patch Farner “shouldn’t get a …

Farner has accepted a position in the Cedarburg School District. His resignation is effective Jan. 15.
UPDATED: 11:55 a.m. Jan. 8 Greenfield Superintendent Conrad Farner, who for months had been under growing scrutiny by some Greenfield School Board members, resigned Monday during a special closed session school board meeting. Farner, whose contract with Greenfield was not set to expire until 2014, has accepted a position as the Director of Human Resources with the Cedarburg School District. According to a statement released by the School Board, Farner’s resignation is effective Jan. 15. Terms of Farner’s separation agreement require the district to contribute approximately $80,000 over three years to a tax-sheltered annuity account. The tax-sheltered payments are designed to offset the waiver of significant contractual rights under Farner’…

Golden Guernsey's closing left some local schools scrambling for milk Monday, according to reports. Greenfield and Whitnall schools have milk for their students, superintendents said.
The sudden closing of Golden Guernsey in Waukesha over the weekend has left some school across the state scrambling for milk for the thousands of students who drink it during the school day, according to news outlets. The Greenfield School District, however, made alternate plans and had milk available Monday, as did several Milwaukee-area school districts. "We have worked it out for Greenfield and the co-op we belong to," Superintendent Conrad Farner said Monday morning. "We are getting milk from another distributor and already received our deliveries this morning. "There will be some sorting out to do over the next few days but as of now our services should not be interrupted." Superintendent Dr. Lowell Holtz indicated in an email to …
