The Greenfield Police Department had a game plan in place to prevent any incident from getting out of hand.
Dan Jansen Family Fest was relatively quiet, with mostly minor incidents requiring police involvement at the 18th annual installment of the festival at Konkel Park May 25-27. The Greenfield Police Department responded to two fights Sunday, one involving two juveniles and another involving two adults at the beer tent at approximately 10 p.m. On Friday, an 18-year-old was taken into custody for carrying a concealed knife without a permit, and later, in a separate incident, a Milwaukee Police Department officer found a knife hidden on the grounds and turned it over to Greenfield police. Chief Brad Wentlandt said Captains Jay Johnson and Mike Brunner had a strong plan in place, including a significant police presence that featured six officers…

When it comes to organizing Dan Jansen Family Fest, president Kathleen Doonan’s philosophy is stick with what works. And why shouldn’t it be. For the last 17 years, the festival has drawn thousands of people to the annual Memorial Day weekend event at Konkel Park. Doonan and festival organizers did tweak this year’s festival a bit. They’ll be kicking off the entertainment lineup with Rebel Grace, the first country band to headline a day at the festival in years, according to Doonan The festival also added the …
