In this year's Deck the House contest, the second time was the charm. Joseph Felix's home in Dallas, GA outshined the other 24 finalists to win the 2012 Deck the House contest and $100,000 for the Paulding County, GA school district. After placing second in the nationwide voting in the 2011 contest, the Felix home received nearly 11,000 votes this year to finally win Deck the House. The home, with 100,000 computer animated holiday lights choreographed to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You," received about 300 more votes than a home in Coventry, R.I., which finished in second place. There were two national finalists from Wisconsin in the contest: Judging by the 80 comments on the Felixes' Deck the House submission, visiting …

Andy and Dan Ackmanns' beautiful holiday light display set to music is a finalist in the national Deck the House competition, and could land the Whitnall School District $100,000!
If the Deck the House competition were a sprint, the Ackmanns and the Whitnall School District might be near the back of the pack. As of Thursday morning, several homes have more than 10 times the number of votes the Ackmanns’ home at 3808 S. 104th St. in Greenfield does. But thankfully there is a week left before voting ends, and Andy Ackmann, who helped his father Dan decorate the home with a dazzling light display set to music, is holding out hope for the grand prize: $100,000 for the local school district. “It’s looking pretty impossible right now,” Andy Ackmann said. “Some houses have 600, 700 or 800 votes. But you never know.” The Ackmanns’ light display has been an annual tradition for years. This season, the family has two new …

Could this be the best “decked” house in the country? Possibly. Congrats to Greenfield's Dan Ackmann (and his son Andy) for being chosen as one of the 24 finalists in our Deck the House contest. We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved seeing everyone’s holiday spirit, but Deck the House isn’t over yet. We’re still looking for the one home so spectacularly decorated that it could be the national grand prize winner of our contest—and it could be a home from right here in Greenfield. Until Dec. 27, vote in our contest …

Time is running out on Patch's national "Deck the House" competition, but local homeowners have thrown their names in the ring for the $100,000 grand prize.
A little friendly competition never hurts, especially when there’s $100,000 on the line! Of course, if either of the Greenfield Patch entries in our Deck the House Contest win the national prize, the Whitnall School District would be the big winner. So far, only Dan Ackmann of Greenfield and Lana and Scott Stachowski of Hales Corners have submitted videos of their homes, but there’s still time to enter our Deck the House Contest. And don’t worry about all those lights racking up the utility bill because if you’re voted a finalist Patch will give you up to $500 to cover the expense. Ackmann, whose parents’ house at 3803 W. 104th St. was featured on Greenfield Patch last year, is facing a strong challenge from the Stachowskis, who have …
