A 28-year-old Greenfield man is accused of choking his girlfriend after becoming jealous when he thought she had been talking to her ex. The man, whose identity is being withheld to protect the woman’s privacy, was charged with felony strangulation and suffocation - domestic abuse and misdemeanor battery – domestic abuse in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on March 28, after police say he punched his girlfriend and choked her in 8-10 second intervals for approximately one minute four days earlier. A 22-year-old Greenfield man is accused of abusing his girlfriend after an argument about paying rent turned physical. According to the Greenfield Police Department report, at about 3 p.m. Feb. 19, officers arrived at a home in the 3600 block of South 47th Street after receiving a call about an altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend. During the 911 call, dispatchers heard the woman scream “Stop, get the (expletive) out of the house, don’t touch me, don’t hit me.” The mother of the 19-year-old victim told police the man often is physical with her daughter. A 21-year-old Greenfield man is accused of dragging a woman around the room by her hair while holding the couple’s young child in the other arm. According to the criminal complaint, the woman came to the man’s apartment in the 4000 block of South 35th Street on Feb. 15. Once there, she gave their child to the man so she could get some sleep. A 60-year-old Greenfield man is accused of telling his wife he was going to cut her head off and eat it while they were having a heated argument in their home. The man was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of disorderly conduct-domestic abuse. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines. A Greenfield woman with cerebral palsy told police she was repeatedly—and brutally—sexually assaulted by a Milwaukee man. Kahlil A. Jaber, 43, is charged with second-degree sexual assault and battery-domestic abuse. If convicted, he faces nearly 26 years in prison and $110,000 in fines. A 42-year-old Greenfield man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to hit his mom in the face, then later hid from police under a tarp in a van. According to the criminal complaint: The suspect, who isn’t being identified in order to protect the name of the victim, began to swear at his mom around 1:16 a.m. Sunday, inside their residence in the 8800 block of West Waterford Square North then attempted to hit her in the face. Regina Rath plead guilty to first-degree reckless homicide for shooting her husband just four days before her trial was set to begin.
A Greenfield woman accused of shooting and killing her husband inside their home last summer for sleeping with other women has struck a last-minute plea deal with prosecutors and will avoid trial. Regina Rath, 46, plead guilty Thursday to one count of first-degree reckless homicide. In exchange, prosecutors have dropped one count of use of a dangerous weapon, which drops five years off a maximum sentence. She could still face up to 60 years in prison with the conviction. Her trial was slated to begin Monday. She has been taken into custody by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department until she's sentenced. Violent domestic abusers could be deterred from repeating if a bill allowing the court to have a person who violates a restraining order be placed under GPS monitoring is passed by the State Assembly and signed by Gov. Scott Walker. It’s a bill that Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) says an overwhelming majority of his constituents, which include Greenfield residents, are in favor of. “In a survey that I sent to my constituents, 96 percent of respondents stated that the use of these high-tech tools is appropriate to help law enforcement and restore safety and peace of mind to victims of domestic abuse,” Carpenter, the co-author of the bill, said in a statement.
