The Green Bay Packers have released their 2013 schedule and will open the regular season vs. the 49ers for the second straight year and at San Francisco for the first time. Four prime-time games, subject to flexible scheduling, are highlighted, as well as a Thanksgiving contest at Detroit. The Packers’ bye will be held in week four. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. CST Saturday and will be broadcast locally on FOX 6. San Francisco, the No. 2 seed, beat up the Packers in Green Bay to open the season with a 30-22 win. But Colin Kaepernick is now San Francisco’s starting quarterback, having replaced Alex Smith midway through the season. As the BloodCenter of Wisconsin joins blood collection organizations around the country to recognize January as National Blood Donor Month — a time to honor the generosity of donors who take time out of their busy schedules to give the gift of life —the Greenfield donation center is in the running to land a visit from Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn. The BloodCenter's Run Your Route has been extended to Jan. 13. The challenge has area donor centers competing for a postseason party with Kuhn. From our friends at Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT): WisDOT Northeast Region in Green Bay is reminding motorists heading to Lambeau Field on Saturday, Jan. 5 for the Green Bay Packers/Minnesota Viking NFL playoff game to be aware of road construction continuing on major roads in northeast Wisconsin. While most projects have stopped and two lanes of traffic will be open, drivers might still encounter road conditions in the work zones that could cause backups. WisDOT strongly recommends motorists allow themselves additional time to reach their destinations. After failing to stop Adrian Peterson twice, the Green Bay Packers will be invited to do so again on Saturday in the first round of the NFL Playoffs. The Packers host the Minnesota Vikings at 7 p.m. Saturday, and the game will be broadcast locally on Today’s TMJ 4. Peterson thrashed Green Bay for 199 yards on Sunday, including a final, 26-yard run to make easy the game-winning, 29-yard field goal in the 37-34 triumph that put Minnesota into the playoffs.
