What to Do This Weekend: Thomas the Train Story Time

Greenfield News and Hobby Store hosts family-friendly train event this Sunday.

Once a month, Jerry the Engineer, an avid train enthusiast, adorns an engineer’s cap and aims to inspire children with the hobby of collecting and operating trains.  He'll be at it again Sunday, Jan. 16, at Greenfield News and Hobby Store, 6815 W. Layton Ave., as part of the store's monthly Thomas the Train Story Time event, which is free and open to the public and runs from 1-4 p.m. “Jerry Brettschneider has been a train expert for quite some time,” store owner Jay Gordon said. “He founded the Lionel Railroad Club of Milwaukee in 1947 and during his travels in active duty for the Army Reserves, he started clubs throughout the country.” Throughout the event, the back room of the hobby shop is converted into a Thomas the Train wonderland …
