Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke urged people to arm themselves so they could hold off criminals until police arrive, but Greenfield police said people should not get a gun out of fear police won't come.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke is getting lots of attention for his pro-gun public service announcement urging people to take up arms in case law enforcement can't arrive fast enough. But Greenfield police said the fear tactics Clarke laid out—furloughs and lay-offs—aren't happening here, and that owning a firearm should be a personal and private decision.
