A report indicates the expiration of a federal homebuyers tax credit is responsible for the jump in sales.
Greenfield homeowners looking to sell their homes may have experienced better luck this July than last, according to a story by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The story cites the Wisconsin Realtors Association report that stated home sales rose 34.4 percent in July compared to July 2010. The rise was anticipated, according to the story, because in 2010, new homebuyers were taking advantage of the federal homebuyers tax credit before it expired at the end of April 2010. Many homes were purchased in the early part of 2010 because of the $8,000 credit, before sales tapered off during the summer months.
