Dr. Dawg Now Open

The restaurant has been under construction for nearly six months but is finally open in the former Hooters building.

Updated: noon, April 17 Mayor Michael Neitzke and Paul and Mary Moll were the first customers at Dr. Dawg, 7700 W. Layton Ave., which opened at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the former Hooters building. "I couldn't wait for a foot-long chili dog," Neitzke said. Added Paul Moll, "Fabulous food, we drove all the way from Milwaukee. They have great dogs and burgers. We had to be here!" Original story posted April 16: On April 8, just after midnight, a witness called police to report a vehicle had sat through an entire cycle of lights without moving at 76th Street and West Layton Avenue. Hooters Closing this Weekend

The popular Greenfield restaurant will close for good Sunday, July 22, 2012.

For the second time in as many years, Greenfield will be losing a landmark restaurant. After 15 years of serving up hot wings to sports enthusiasts, waitresses at Hooters will be putting away their short shorts and tight tanktops for good as the popular sports bar and grill closes Sunday. Greenfield Patch reported last month the restaurant was rumored to be closing this summer, and on Friday, an employee confirmed this weekend was Hooters' last. The restaurant, which holds a special place in sports enthusiasts' heart because of its ties to the late NASCAR great Alan Kulwicki, is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
