The Greenfield School Board will conduct the initial interviews this week. Among the candidates are five superintendents and a high school administrator.
The Greenfield School Board has identified six candidates members would like to interview for its vacant superintendent opening. The pool includes five superintendents and one high school administrator. Just one candidate is currently employed in a Milwaukee suburb, and one works in Illinois. The candidates, in alphabetical order, are: Board members will interview the six candidates this week, April 3-4, in closed session. As the Greenfield School Board sets its sights on selecting a new superintendent, it will certainly have plenty of options to look at. Former superintendent Dr. Louis Birchbauer, who is now a consultant for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, told Greenfield Patch on Wednesday that 20 candidates submitted applications for the opening created by Conrad Farner’s resignation in January. Birchbauer said typical superintendent searches yield 12-15 applicants. “It’s a high-end application pool,” Birchbauer said. “It’s a good candidate pool.” Birchbauer said size and location of the school district likely played a role in the higher than usual submitted applications. Stakeholders discussed what priorities were important to them in potential candidates when they met with the district's search firm Thursday.
The search firm in charge of finding the next Greenfield superintendent is confident the School Board will have strong candidates to choose from, despite the issues the district continues to face. Dr. Louis Birchbauer, the district's superintendent prior to Conrad Farner and now a search services consultant for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, told Board members Thursday the position is an attractive one.
