The Greenfield School Board will conduct the initial interviews this week. Among the candidates are five superintendents and a high school administrator.

The candidates, in alphabetical order, are: Board members will interview the six candidates this week, April 3-4, in closed session. From there, they will decide whom to invite for second interviews or if they need to interview other candidates among the initial 20 applicants, according to Dr. Louis Birchbauer, a consultant for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. “I think they’ve done a very thorough job of trying to pull this all together,” …

20 Candidates Interested in Greenfield Superintendent Vacancy

Board Wants New Superintendent to be Leader, Collaborator

Stakeholders discussed what priorities were important to them in potential candidates when they met with the district's search firm Thursday.

The search firm in charge of finding the next Greenfield superintendent is confident the School Board will have strong candidates to choose from, despite the issues the district continues to face. Dr. Louis Birchbauer, the district's superintendent prior to Conrad Farner and now a search services consultant for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, told Board members Thursday the position is an attractive one. "The reputation, the facilities, the desire to work with people and staff, the dedication and community support will help you move forward and find a leader," Birchbauer said. Birchbauer spent much of Thursday afternoon and evening at the Greenfield Performing Arts Center and district board room conducting focus groups and …

Birchbauer was a much better superintendent who, by all accounts, cared for his employees, showed up to classrooms and personally encouraged all teachers before the first day of school and also dropped by each classroom during the holidays to extend well wishes. Farner had no connection to Birchbauer when he was first hired in Greenfield. Only one other district currently hiring is bigger than …   more ›
