Incumbent Rebecca Bradley, who was appointed by Gov. Scott Walker to fill a judicial vacancy in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, will face Janet Protasiewicz in the nonpartisan election for the Branch 45 seat on April 2. Bradley, a Wauwatosa resident, has spent her legal career in private practice, most recently as a business litigator with the firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. According to her website, Bradley volunteered her services to families of developmentally disabled youth in guardianship proceedings. Three candidates are vying for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 45 seat, held by Judge Rebecca Bradley. The non-partisan Feb. 19 primary election will be contested among Bradley; Janet Protasiewicz, an assistant district attorney; and Gil Urfer, a private practice attorney. Christopher Gish may enter a plea at his scheduled trial date in November.
A plea deal could be in the works for a Greenfield man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in July. Christopher Gish, 38, didn’t appear in front of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Jeffrey Wagner on Monday, but attorneys in the case have scheduled a potential plea deal Nov. 19, the day Gish’s trial was set to take place. According to the criminal complaint: Police say Gish stabbed Margaret Litwicki, 27, several times inside her home located in the 4400 block of West Morgan Avenue in July. Two Greenfield police officers went to Litwicki’s address after her car had been found by the Oak Creek Police Department, abandoned and apparently in a crash. Suspect allegedly forced a woman's car off the road and smashed out her window with a metal pipe after she went to drop off her child at a Head Start program.
A 25-year-old Greenfield man is facing charges after he allegedly chased down his girlfriend and another man in his car and smashed out their windshield with a metal pipe. Enrique Velez-Figueroa was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Saturday with one count of violating a domestic abuse injunction, one count of second-degree reckless endangerment of safety, one count of criminal damage to property and three counts of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to nearly 14 years in prison and $66,000 in fines. Greenfield police officer sees films of Suboxone fall out of a West Allis man's shoes while they're searching for drugs.
A West Allis man faces charges after Greenfield police found drugs in his shoe and underwear during a traffic stop. According to the criminal complaint, on Sept. 28 Greenfield police stopped a car near South 35th Street and Wilbur Avenue. An officer noticed one of the occupants of the car had an outstanding arrest warrant. Sean J. Whalen, 29, a passenger in the car was questioned by police and gave his consent when officers asked if he would let them search him for drugs. He initially denied having any, but while taking off his shoes films of Suboxone fall out. Suboxone is a medication that helps people with heroin and opiate addictions.
