LOFT, originally Ann Taylor, will be opening at Southridge Mall in February. The chain of women's clothing will be one of many stores that have joined the tenant-mix at Southridge since its $52 million renovation started. Let's take a look back at a new Walmart, Macy's, Southridge renovations and new businesses along 76th Street.
I'm not sure if the Southridge area has ever experienced as much excitement as it did this year. Patch has been there from project proposalsto ribbon cutting ceremonies. Greendale's Walmart process started in 2010 when rumors surfaced that they had their eyes in the old U.S. Bowling Congress building. After several open houses, planning commission meetings and board meetings, Walmart was approved by the Village of Greendale in summer 2011. Walmart construction started and ended in 2012. The 90,000 square feet store will have a smaller Supercenter format and is due to open in late January. Southridge officially announced new tenants Buca di Beppo, Chico's, LOFT, Longhorn Steakhouse, and Old Navy at today's renovation completion ceremony.
Southridge Mall announced today that Old Navy, which left the mall in June, and Buca di Beppo will be coming into the mall. Longhorn Steakhouse and LOFT will also be joining the tenant mix in 2013. Simon Properties representative Les Morris said Chico's would be coming into the mall as well. "This is an exciting time for Southridge Mall and the local community," said Mary Mokwa, Southridge Mall Manager. Tilly's opened Tuesday in the lower level of Southridge Mall. Tilly’s is a specialty retailer in the action sports industry carrying clothing, shoes, and accessories for the surf, skate and motocross enthusiast. The 7,000 square-foot store offers a variety of popular brands including: Hurley, Rip Curl, Vans, Reef and O’Neill for men, women and children. This Southern California concept will be located on the Lower Lever near Macy’s. The store is located in the lower level at the former Old Navy location. Another Tilly's is located in Brookfield Squre. Other store openings to watch out for in the newly renovated Southridge Mall include Justice, Journeyz Kidz, Ann Taylor Loft and Body Central.

Buca di Beppo might be setting up shop near Macy's.
Buca di Beppo might be coming to Southridge Mall near the new Macy's. Eyes from all over the Milwaukee area have been on Southridge Mall since it began its $52 million dollar renovation. According to a lease plan on the property owner's website, Buca di Beppo will be located inside the mall next to an entrance in the south end near Macy's. The plan is also attached to this article as a pdf. Southridge Mall representatives were not able to confirm the new restaurant Wednesday. The mall cannot confirm or announce new businesses until all leasing paperwork is signed. Many stores have left the mall, but many others have also opened. Crazy 8 is now open in Southridge Mall in the bottom level near the center court. The Gymboree Corporation’s new brand, Crazy 8, is a 2,500-square-foot space with fashionable clothing and accessories for girls and boys sizes 0 to 14. Crazy 8 is one of many other stores that are joining the mall's tenant mix. The mall is undergoing a $52 million renovation, which will be next to Crazy 8. Other children stores that are opening in the mall are Justice and Journey Kidz.

Southridge Mall representative says they will announce a number of new stores opening at the mall later this week.
Tilly's, a sports-branded clothing store, will open at the former Old Navy location. The official announcement about the store will be made later this week, along with news about several other storefronts in the renovated mall, said Southridge Mall spokeswoman Britney Seltzer. Tilly's will join other mall stores opening this fall: Til We Meet Again, Bachrach, Crazy 8 and Journeys Kidz. Southridge Mall is undergoing a $52 million renovation with the help of a $16 million TIF district. The Village Board will review the store's proposed design for the permit application at their next meeting.
The Greendale Planning Commission approved a design for the exterior renovation of Southridge Boston Store. The Village Board will review the application that requests a permit to renovate both its north and west entrances at the July 17 meeting. The application says the estimated cost for the renovation is $150,000, which would be paid for entirely by BonTon. Boston Store is undergoing an $8 million interior renovation with the help of a $3 million TIF district from the Village. This also comes during a $52 million renovation of Southridge Mall, also partially funded through a TIF district. Macy's, known as one of Boston Store's competitors, opened its brand new store in the mall back in March.

Hallmark in Southridge might be closed temporarily, but a Southridge representative says they are working to find them a more suitable space. Mall representative also says there "a lot of moving pieces."
Everything left on Hallmark's nearly-empty shelves was 90 percent off Friday, but the store is not closing. It was previously reported the store would be closing its Southridge location, but mall officials clarified Tuesday that the store will relocate, not shut down. Southridge Mall media representative Les Morris said management is working with Hallmark to find "a right size, more suitable space." Morris would not say if another business is moving into the Hallmark space, but more information information is expected next week. He said there are "a lot of moving pieces" in the mall right now. Southridge Mall released a statement in response to Old Navy's departure. The mall say it will continue to bring new stores and restaurants.
Despite the closing of the Old Navy store at Southridge Mall, mall management says it will continue its aggressive renovation plans by bringing in new stores and restaurants. Old Navy, which will close on June 25, was the chain's last store in the southern Milwaukee County. The next closest stores are in Brown Deer and Brookfield Square. The closing comes at a time when Southridge is in the process of finishing a $52 million renovation with the help of $16 million TIF District from the village of Greendale. This renovation has brought in new stores like Macy's and H&M.
