Starbucks to Give Free Coffee on Fourth of July

To spark conversation about changing America’s “national spirit,” the coffee giant will be handing out free drinks on Independence Day.

In a full-page ad in major Sunday newspapers, Starbucks CEO Harold Schultz said Starbucks will be handing out free cups of coffee on the Fourth of July, and for a good reason. The ad titled “How Can America Win This Election?” talks of the country’s dwindling national spirit and political divide. Shultz hopes that by offering the free Tall cup of brewed coffee, it’ll raise awareness for his campaign #INDIVISIBLE, a national conversation across all social media so “we can all put citizenship over partisanship.” “I love America, but we all know there is something wrong,” wrote Schultz. “The deficits this country must reconcile are much more than financial, and our inability to solve our own problems is sapping our national spirit. We are …

Half-price drinks between 3-5 p.m. and a new Chocolate Cookie Crumble flavor? Yes!

When it's warm out, there's nothing better than strolling around with a frothy beverage. And while temperatures are expected to dip a bit this weekend, you can still get a cold drink -- and for a bargain price, too.  Starbucks is launching its annual Happy Hour on Friday, where Frappuccinos are half-price between 3-5 p.m. through May 13. That means you can get one of the blended beverages for as little as $2. And Starbucks has a great new addition to its Frappuccino lineup: Chocolate Cookie Crumble. It's a blended concoction of mocha sauce, vanilla syrup, chocolate chips, milk and ice, topped with chocolate whipped cream (are you kidding me?) and chocolate cookie crumbles. I Just Got Handed an Envelope of Money

I was given an unexpected gift today while sitting at Starbucks.

I’m not sure why she picked me, but she did. Maybe I just looked like a guy who wouldn’t turn down the gesture. This afternoon, an attractive woman, maybe in her late 30s or 40s, whom I’d never met or seen before in my life, stopped at my table on her way out of Starbucks, handed me an envelope and said, “Merry Christmas.” Before I could say much more than “thanks,” she turned and walked out the door. When I opened the envelope, I expected maybe a coupon for a free coffee or something like that. Instead, there were two $1 bills and this note: “This envelope started with $1.00 inside. It is given to you by a stranger with no agenda or expectation of recognition. “If you don’t need the money, please add at least one dollar to the envelope …

Photo Gallery: Greenfield's Starbucks Gets a New Look

The cafe reopened Friday, Dec. 2, after a multi-week remodeling project.

Several dozens of people flowed in and out of Starbucks on Friday morning, and many celebrated the cafe's grand re-opening to show off its new look. The popular coffee shop had been closed to sit-down customers since mid-November while construction crews gave the interior a facelift. The new cafe includes more seating, and a wider variety of seats. Gone are the couches on the north and east sides of the building, but in their place are eight large, leather chairs and several high-top tables. The service counter has also been revamped, giving baristas more room to work. The interior design has a strong presence of wood and earth tones, with a majority of the artwork related to coffee and the coffee-making process.

Seating has not been available since mid-November. The cafe serves as a popular meeting place and mobile office for several regular customers. The remodeled location is expected to have more seating.
