ReplySchools and society in general need more of a shift of the accountability on the students and the parents and not direct it so much to the staff. I wonder what the consequences are for missing too much class? Do they flunk, not earn credits, have to take summer school to earn credits? How about a tax credit for parents with students with perfect attendance? How about having the parents and students held accountable instead of the teachers and administration. Our society is really not seeing the value of getting an education anymore. Folks better take notice that it wasn't that long ago that only the elite were able to afford an education! Our schools should have lines forming outside before the day begins for the opportunity to learn. Instead so many are looking to do what they can to do less learning.

ReplyIf Farner had such "high morals" and truly "cared" for the learning of Greenfields' students he would reject the money and gracefully go away. What a joke this guy is. I hope Cedarburg gets ready for this guy's baggage. The board needs to fight to get this money back! Also the board needs to be warned that all the administrative positions Farner created need to be questioned if they are needed. What a waste of tax dollars.

ReplyEducators and administrators would agree with the responsibility and accountability needed for today's youth. However with all the accountability reforms and performance requirements for schools. The tardiness, truancy, and poor test scores will hurt your children as there will be less opportunities for them as their school under performs. Poor performance = less funding for needed programs at the school.

Many of the GF Elementary Schools have been unlocked all day long. Any person can walk right inside and usually walk right past the office without even speaking to a person. Many people have spoken about this along with other safety issues, but just like many other issues in GF, nothing changes.

ReplyMore bad decisions by this administration...
How could these issues have been overlooked? WOW! The board members that support this mess need to be voted out at the next election. -

ReplyThis administration could easily be replaced by professionals that are aware of the laws and rules that are changing. OC is getting a reputation for not following the federal and state laws set for students with special needs. It is clearly affecting the learning of all the students. Taxpayers are getting shafted by some of this ineffectiveness at the administrative level.

ReplyWow this is surprising. Kollath Kristin Business Manager $121,213.00 This is a job that is HIGHLY overpaid. Especially when HR cannot handle the day to day duties correctly.

I applaud Mr. Thusius on this! I think he needs to take it another step further and those late students log the minutes they missed and they serve that time in an after school study hall, or have fines that accumulate until graduation. Fines not paid no diploma and/or transcripts held, any fun fees (yearbook, athletics, etc.) go automatically toward fines first. If they show up for graduation and walk on stage to their name not being called and not handed a diploma- public humiliation.
