ReplyThere is no doubt that the Wisconsin Legislators can become part time. This should be a calling to public service not a career for profit. Most states are part time with less staff support.
My guess is that Sheriff Clark would not like Executive Able to have more power; the Board has re-instated cuts to his budget more than once.
How we stack up with other states regarding full or part time legislators:
http://www.ncsl.org/legislatures-elections/legislatures/full-and-part-time-legislatures.aspxOur legislators are paid just under $50,000 a year, up to $88 per diem/day and 48.5 cents per mile. If they were part time and paid less they would be far more concerned about representing their constituents than winning a re-election.
Part time county board and part time state legislators.

The Anti-Alinsky,
Actually I read almost the whole thing and I had seen that debt clock. Isn't that our share of the National Debt?
My point was that if anyone actually believes that the state of Wisconsin has no structural debt, they are mistaken.

Craig,
Sorry but Wisconsin's budget is far from balanced, Walker and company balanced it the same way as Jim Doyle pushing it down the road. Wisconsin has a total state debt of approximately $79 Billion.
http://sunshinereview.org/index.php/Wisconsin_state_budget
Remember when Walker said our state budget was balanced and announced plans to use $25.6 million of the national mortgage settlement money to plug holes in the state's budget?
Under cash basis accounting, which the state uses, the governor announced that the state budget was balanced. In Jan. 2012, however, state officials certified to federal government officials that under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the state will have a deficit.
Good thing some people are gullable.

ReplyPlease don't offer taxpayers a modest tax cut and then turn around and borrow a billion dollars for road construction. Makes no fiscal sense.

ReplyIt just doesn't matter anymore.
You could surround yourself with theives and felons but party line trumps anything.
I don't know either of these people, but I do see a conflict of interest when a judge votes in favor of an attorney who happens to represent them.

I order quite a bit online shopping, especially equipment parts. I always claim it and pay the State tax.
Just this week I was at a local home improvement store where I made almost a cart full of purchases. When I got out to my truck I noticed that I had not paid for (2) 8 packs of AA batteries. I went back into the store and paid for them.
These are just the right things to do, things we all should be teaching our kids and doing.
