Assistant Superintendent Todd Bugnacki Leaving Greenfield

Bugnacki has taken a similar position in Cedarburg, where his former boss Conrad Farner is the director of human resources.

The massive shakeup atop the Greenfield School District continued as Todd Bugnacki, the Director of Educational Services and the third and final member of the central office team in place just six months ago, has resigned.

Bugnacki has taken a similar position in Cedarburg, where his former boss Conrad Farner is the director of human resources.

His resignation comes five months after Farner resigned as the Greenfield superintendent to take a job with the Cedarburg School District. Around the same time, Kristin Kollath resigned as Greenfield’s business director.

Bugnacki’s move comes nearly five months after he turned down the opportunity to replace Farner on an interim basis. At that time Bugnacki said it was in his best interest to “remain in my current position and help facilitate the hard work of our teachers and administrators.”

As a result, the Greenfield School Board hired David Ewald as the interim superintendent.

Bugnacki spent 16 years with the district including several as a principal.

Lisa Elliott, a former Greenfield principal who is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction of the Nicolet School District, was eventually hired to replace Farner. Her contract with Greenfield begins July 1.

An automated email response from Bugnacki indicated he was not in the office Friday and could not be reached for comment.

School Board members met Thursday to discuss replacing Bugnacki, whose resignation was accepted by Ewald on Wednesday. Bugnacki’s last day is June 30.

“I was surprised he’s leaving, but we wish him well,” School Board president Bruce Bailey said. “With a new superintendent coming on board July 1, the positive with this is the new superintendent will be able to help pick a new superintendent or reconfigure the front office.”

Ewald, who wished Bugnacki well, said the latter is the more likely scenario, and that a human resources position will be reintroduced to the district.

“There already is movement to restructure the district office to take full advantage of the people we have here,” he said. “There is a real likelihood that Todd’s office will not exist in the future. … We really do have some rich, capable people within the district."
