Petco Robber Pleads Guilty, Faces 13 Years in Federal Prison

Aldi Velez Berrios also admitted to committing a similar robbery at Goodwill in New Berlin this spring, one month before robbing Petco.

A 46-year-old man who tied up employees at Petco in Greenfield while he tried to rob the store, plead guilty to the crime in federal court on Monday, according to the Greenfield Police Department.

Police say Aldi Velez Berrios entered the store at 4950 S. 76th St. on May 13, armed with a crowbar and handgun, and took three employees to a back office where he zip-tied their hands.

One of the employees was able to call 911, and within minutes, Greenfield police had two squad cars at the store. Velez Berrios came out of the store holding the gun, but dropped it and surrendered when he saw police.
