Impatient Man Calls 911 From Police Department Lobby, Police Say

This week's police blotter features a man who thought the wait for his time in court was taking too long, and a thief who went to great lengths to steal a bike.

We have all been taught the proper time to use 911 is in an emergency only.

Clearly, one’s definition of emergency can vary.

A 34-year-old man allegedly dialed the number from the front lobby of the Greenfield Law Enforcement Center, which houses both the Greenfield Police Department and the municipal courtroom.

The man called the number to complain that it was taking too long for his name to be called while he waited to appear in court for another municipal citation just before 5 p.m. Sept. 26.

He received a citation for the misuse of 911.
