Some Greenfield Residents Affected by Greendale Boil Water Advisory

Those residents were not notified until Monday, one day after Greendale residents were notified.

According to an email sent by the Greenfield health director to other city employees, seven residences within Greenfield that receive water from the Greendale Water Utility were not notified of the boil water advisory until Monday, one full day after Greendale residents were notified.

The email sent by Darren Rausch said a public health nurse and an intern went to the seven residences in the 79th Street and Holmes Avenue area to notify the residents of the advisory. His email said the responses were mostly positive and that many of the residents already knew of the advisory.

The nurse and intern also provided the residents with a case of bottled water.

The advisory, issued by the Wisconsin DNR on Sunday, is expected to last until at least Tuesday morning after several tests reported as positive for coliform bacteria.

Coliform bacteria are bacteria that typically indicate the presence of other bacteria; tests indicate that fecal bacteria and E. coli (diarrhea-causing bacteria) were not found – at least not as of the most recent samples. , and these tests will be repeated Tuesday to prove the safety of the water and the lifting of the boil water advisory.
