Aurora West Allis Medical Center Celebrating 50th Anniversary

As part of its year-long 50th anniversary celebration, Aurora West Allis Medical will hold the inaugural “Evening of Promise” gala on Sept. 22 at the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Peck Welcome Center, beginning at 6 p.m.

The event will feature a variety of food stations, a silent auction, and a look back over the hospital’s 50 years of operation. Emcee for the evening will be Shari Dunn, news anchor at WDJT Channel 58. Event Chairpersons are Joe Kempen, president of Motor Castings Co., and his wife, Dianne, both longtime supporters of Aurora West Allis Medical Center.

Proceeds from the event will create a private family consultation room near the surgical area and a continuing-care area in the hospital’s emergency department.

“While Aurora West Allis Medical Center is recognized for an outstanding patient experience, we asked our patients and their families how we might make their experience even better,” said Rick Kellar, vice president and chief administrative officer at Aurora West Allis.  “The family consultation room will give doctors and families a more relaxed and private area to discuss the status of patients.  The changes in the emergency department will provide a comfortable area for patients with less severe symptoms to wait for test results and enable other patients to receive emergency care much sooner."

The emergency department at Aurora West Allis cares for approximately 3,000 people per month.
