Advanced Auto Parts Wants 76th Street Location

The nationwide chain will have its proposal heard at the Plan Commission meeting Tuesday, July 10.

Advanced Auto Parts, a chain with more than 3,500 nationwide stores, hopes to move into Greenfield along the city’s busiest shopping corridor.

The auto parts store would fill the space vacated by AG Computers at 4145 S. 76th Street, but city staff has initial concerns, especially with how the new store would fit in aesthetically.

The proposed store would fill approximately 6,000 square feet, or about a quarter of two similar-sized retail buildings with identical exterior looks. Advanced Auto Parts' proposal, according to Plan Commission Meeting notes, however, calls for only the portion it would use to get an aesthetic upgrade.

The proposal will come in front of the , but likely won’t reach the Common Council until Aug. 21.

The Plan Commission is also expected to provide a conceptual review of a proposed acupuncture clinic on the northwest corner of the intersection of Cold Spring Road and Highway 100.

Dr. Chaun Liu, whose firm operates three Milwaukee Acupuncture & Health Centers in the area, including one at 6501 W. Layton Ave., is proposing to build a 5,200-square-foot single-story facility near the .

Among the services that would be offered at the clinic are acupuncture, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage and nutrition and diet counseling.

The services offered at the Layton location would move to the new location, if it is eventually approved by the Common Council.

In addition, Hillcrest 43 LLC, owner of two wooded parcels of land at 4142 and 4202 S. 43rd Street, is expected to have its initial proposal for a 41-unit market-rate multi-family apartment complex.

One of the challengers builders will have while developing that land is that roughly one-third of it can't be built on because of wetlands and the Kinnickinnic River Watershed.
