City Workers Were Ready to Tackle Morning's Snow

Salt trucks were out at 5 a.m. and plow trucks have been on the roads since 7 a.m.

The Greenfield Department of Public Works was ready for today's snowstorm, even if many commuters were not.

According to Dan Ewert, the Superintendent of Public Works, salt trucks hit the streets at 5 a.m. this morning when rain changed to snow. Two hours later, the department changed over to a full-scale plowing operation and all plow operators are currently on the streets.

Original forecasts called for just rain in the area with accumulating snow likely for north and west of Greenfield. But the snow did reach the city and its surrounding areas and since this morning, multiple inches of wet, heavy snow has accumulated.
