Poon Paregentan (or Mardi Gras) Celebration

Mardi Gras is celebrated under many names in many places around the world. In Armenia, the last party before the onset of Lent is called Poon Paregentan. It’s a time of music, food and dancing.

The public is invited to the Milwaukee Armenian community’s celebration of Poon Paragentan, 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Culture Hall of St. John the Baptist Armenian Orthodox Church, 7825 W. Layton Ave, Greenfield. Traditional Armenian dance and party music will be performed by MidEast Beat. A full dinner buffet with dessert will be served at 8 p.m.

Admission is $25 (Advance reservations) for adults, $10 for children 8 to 12 years old and free for children under 8.
