The weather seems to have taken a turn for the better, but probably not enough that you can just send the kids out in the yard to play all weekend.

Why Go: First, supporting the arts always feels good. Second, this is opening weekend of a cute play about a fly and an earwig who prepare for the queen bee’s annual Soil Contest.

Why Go: Educational fun is always a good route to take. This one is all about pH factor and exploring acids and bases through experiments and other fun activities. Online registration is required, or by calling 414-768-1678.

Where/When: upper level in the South Court of Southridge Mall/Friday, 3:30-9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why Go: Mini-golf is always a hit, and indoor GlowGolf is the perfect until the weather gets nicer.
Pricing: $8 for adults; $6 for children 5-12; $3 for children 4 and under (and there’s a $2 off coupon available at the mall!)
• Gulliver's Travels
Where/When: Silver Cinema - Budget South, 4475 S. 108th St./Friday through Sunday, 12:20 p.m., 2:35 p.m., 4:35 p.m., 7:10 p.m., 9:20 p.m.
Why Go: Kids love movies, and this modern remake of the old book stars funnyman Jack Black.

Why Go: Children ages 5-7 will get their first glimpse into performance arts and learn how to funnel their creative energy into acting.
