Last Chance: Free Media Workshop, Recall Registration and Taxes

It may be a week of vacation for some, but deadlines still loom....what do you need to remember before you've missed one?

What deadlines are coming this week?

  • Time is running out to register for . The seminar, geared toward business owners, will show attendees what they can do on Facebook, Twitter and Patch to enhance the web presence of their companies. RSVP today because the seminar is 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the Greendale Library.
  • In this era of perpetual elections, it's worthy to note that if you have been toying with the idea of throwing your hat in the gubernatorial race - primary will be held on May 8 - you're running out of time. New candidates must register their campaign committee with the Government Accountability Board, Ethics and Accountability Division on-line no later than 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 10.
  • OK, so this one is next week, but it's worth nothing: the income tax deadline is also looming, but the good news is that it's not April 15. Due to the 15th falling on a Sunday, and Emancipation Day in Washington, DC (a DC-only holiday) is observed on Monday, April 16, the official filing deadline will move to the next business day which is Tuesday, April 17. For you serious procrastinators, postmarks do count, and the Milwaukee downtown post office will have workers available to take your taxes (if you still use snail mail, and if you owe, why not?) until 11:59 p.m.
