With Aims of Fighting Crime, City Looking at Resale Ordinance

Most recent draft would require transaction fees for new resale shops.

In an effort to keep thieves from reselling stolen goods in the city, Greenfield is taking a closer look at its resale ordinance and could include transaction fees for resellers.

According to a story by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Mayor Michael Neitzke hopes transaction fees are not apart of the new ordinance. He also wants to avoid a controversy like the one created last year when a proposed ordinance required resellers to hold items for 30 days before reselling them and required resellers to take photos of customers who sold items and make daily reports of their transactions to police.

This news comes on the heels of a large pawn shop's . That topic will be discussed at a public hearing in late June.
